L’Ostelliere is part of a new breed of farm countryside accommodation offering a high level of comfort and service in a sophisticated ambiance. The restored 18th-century farmhouse complex holds 28 very spacious bedrooms, each individually appointed with a mix of creatively restored country antiques from Spain, Italy and England. They harmonize nicely with the earth tone color schemes, contemporary artwork, plank wood floors and stone walls, contrasted with red accents in pillows and fine fabrics. Besides the hotel, there is a gourmet restaurant, La Gallina, and a prestigious winery, Villa Sparina, combined to form the Monterotondo Resort. Pristine vineyards, spread about the 300-acre property composed of hills and woods, produce a variety of grapes. The magnificent wine cellars just underneath the hotel can be toured. Meals are served outside overlooking the vineyards, or in the lofty brick dining room, once a hay barn. In the evening, lighting is obtained by hidden spots and candlelight, creating a magical ambiance. Taking advantage of the location between the Ligurian Riviera and Piedmont countryside, the very capable chef pulls together the best of both regions and creates innovative dishes enhanced by the superb choice of wines.
