Karen's Review Of This Property:

Ten years ago the Luz family of Luino refurbished another home, creating a second, more economical accommodation just 2 kilometers up the road from their hotel on Lake Maggiore (in our other guide). The Colmegna is run by their young and energetic daughter Lara and caters well to families—in fact, there is no charge for children under four. The two pale-yellow buildings run right along the waterfront bordered by an old stone port. There are several terraces for dining outdoors and another with a lawn for sunning or relaxing and enjoying the view. Beyond there is a gorgeous shaded park with romantic trails, tall trees, and wildflowers at one of the prettiest points of the lake. Simply appointed bedrooms are all situated lakeside on the two floors and accommodate from two to four persons. Swimming, sailing, and windsurfing sports can be arranged. Luino is famous for its open market on Wednesdays, a long-standing tradition since 1541. Within touring distance are the lakes of Lugano and Como, the ferry from Laveno across Lake Maggiore, and the Swiss border.
