The pearl of the Ligurian Riviera, exclusive and intimate, Portofino is known as the living room of the rich and famous. Top name brand boutiques, pastel-colored houses, outdoor café dining, and a small harbor holding magnificent yachts are backed by a mountain falling into the sea. Tucked away from the mainstream is the sleekly restored San Giorgio boutique hotel which compensates for its position facing away from the sea with super comfortable and quiet rooms, a long list of special services and personalized hospitality. The owner has personally overseen the redecorating of the home, attractively appointed in cream and beige tones contrasted with black and white features such as the Ardesia marble used in bathrooms. Common areas and hallways have a modern sculpture in bronze as the focus. The 18 rooms, ranging from smaller doubles to suites, feature many modern amenities and extras including the finest in bed linens. On the upper floor is the breakfast room where a buffet is offered at any hour of the morning and can be served also outside on the terraced garden behind the hotel. A second hotel has been purchased set in a nearby cove, which offers guests the option of an excellent seafood restaurant and use of the private beach area.
