Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Villa Luppis property, with its rich historical past, was originally an 11th-century monastery restored in 1500 after a devastating war and bought by the Luppis family in 1800. In order to be able to maintain the vast estate, Stefania and Giorgio Ricci Luppis opened its doors as a hotel in 1993. Their intention was to maintain the flavor of their original home by keeping the family’s period antiques and precious paintings intact. The effect is true old-world charm that surrounds you within the beamed dining room with enormous fireplace, various frescoed sitting rooms, and arched front hall overlooking the garden. Bedrooms and suites within two wings of the villa are in theme with matching bedspreads and draperies, antique pieces, gilded mirrors, and stenciled bordered or beamed ceilings. On-site activities include a swimming pool and tennis courts, and bikes for touring the surrounding park are offered. The excellent restaurant, where Chef Antonino Sanna works wonders with fresh seafood, organizes a three- to five-day cooking school and wine lessons with wine expert Moreno Romano—the classes even include visits to local cantinas and cheese producers. A variety of fascinating local itineraries are suggested to the Villas of Palladio on the Brenta canal, or to the Pordenone, Udine, and Gorizia castles. A shuttle is available daily to/from Venice (40 minutes). Transportation to/from Marco Polo airport is available on request.
