Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Solarola, a sunny yellow villa, as its name implies, in the flat countryside around Bologna is, in a word, “perfect.” This gorgeous turn-of-the-last-century was once a private home and was transformed into a guesthouse with five double rooms, a restaurant, living room, billiard room, outdoor gazebo, and beautiful swimming pool by the previous owners Antonella and Valentino. Additional rooms with air conditioning and all amenities were opened after that in the former barn directly in front with downstairs living room and library. Antonella decorated the guest villas to be romantic and refined, yet warm and inviting. Each room is named after a flower and everything—wallpaper, botanical prints, fluffy comforters, motifs on lampshades and bed frames, bouquets, and even room fragrance—conforms to the floral theme. Victoriana abounds in details such as antique cabinets filled with china, lace curtains and doilies, dried-flower bouquets, old family photos, and Tiffany lamps. Ghearado Casini and his wife purchased the hotel from Antonella and Valentino and continue with the same traditions and service. The real treat at Solarola is the inventive cuisine created by the skilled chef Roy Caceres who has been awarded one Michelin star.
