Karen's Review Of This Property:
For some reason, the city of Bologna is often bypassed by visitors, despite its rich past, beautiful historic center, arcaded streets, and elegant shops. Cristina, Serena, and Mauro Orsi, the owners of the splendid, four-star Hotel Corona d’Oro, mentioned in our hotel guide, own three other centrally located hotels: the Orologio, the Commercianti and the sleek new Novecento. Just steps away from Bologna’s main piazza and Basilica, the true heart of the city, you find the nicely renovated Orologio, so-called because it looks onto city hall with its clock tower. The reception desk on the ground floor leads upstairs to a large sitting and dining room where a buffet breakfast is served. From this level there is an elevator up to the guestrooms displaying unique antique clocks at each level. Rooms include occasional antiques, fabric walls, and white and gray marble bathrooms. The classically decorated rooms with carpeting have all amenities (including wireless internet) and most have great views of the square. Bicycles are available free of charge to our readers to visit the city’s historical center and main monuments just like a native. The owners also organize personalized cooking classes, tickets for special events, and private tours of Bologna and surrounding cities.
