Karen's Review Of This Property:
Perched on a bluff with a sweeping view of the sea, the deluxe Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria exudes a charming, refined, old world grandeur. Since the hotel was built in 1834, it has been continuously owned by the Fiorentino family, who are still involved with the day by day management, making this property especially outstanding. The owner’s wife, Lidia Fiorentino, personally oversees the decorating, carefully blending the finest of modern amenities without sacrificing the appealing antique ambiance. The hotel is composed of three villas overlooking the sea that are enhanced by a lovely 5-acre garden, complete with orange grove and swimming pool—the setting is so tranquil that you would hardly know you are in the heart of Sorrento. A large terrace at the edge of the bluff is a favorite place for guests to relax, soaking in the beautiful view and watching the action of the ferry boats which are constantly gliding in and out of the Marina Piccola—the harbor just below the hotel. There are two dining rooms. A popular choice on balmy evenings is the Bosquet where guests dine on the terrace under the stars with a splendid view of the Bay of Naples. The most treasured restaurant is the opulent Vittoria, a stunning dining room with a spectacular frescoed ceiling. The tradition of frescoed ceilings and walls has been nurtured with a resident artist who is constantly at work. Guests can be pampered at the hotel’s luxurious spa.
