The intimate Buca di Bacco won our hearts immediately—not that it is super elegant or grandly deluxe, but it possesses all the ingredients that make a hotel very, very special. It has an unbeatable location directly on the beach in the center of Positano, charming decor, excellent food, and spectacular views and—most important of all—radiates a graciously warm welcome. It is no wonder that the hospitality is so genuine: the Rispoli family has been catering to guests for three generations. Grandfather Rispoli emigrated to the United States years ago but his heart longed for his beautiful Positano, so when he saved enough money he returned and bought a property right on the beach where he opened a restaurant with guestrooms. From the moment you enter, you will be impressed by the tasteful decor. The lobby has a tiled floor in a beautiful green, yellow, and white design. The greens and yellow are picked up in the various fabrics used throughout. Salvatore Rispoli is often at the front desk, but the entire family is busy behind the scenes. Salvatore’s sister is responsible for the glorious flower arrangements, while Carla and Nicodemo Rispoli are often in the kitchen overseeing the excellent meals. Almost all of the rooms have either a balcony or a terrace with a view. If you really want to splurge, ask for the most deluxe room, number 10, an exceptional corner room with an enormous terrace and the best view in Positano.
