Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Villa Brunella is a tiny jewel located on the picturesque Via Tragara, only a ten-minute walk to the center of town. This romantic hotel, overlooking the Marina Piccola, squeezes the greatest advantage from its narrow, deep lot. It is built on terraces starting at street level where its superb restaurant with a view balcony is located, and steps down the steep hillside to the blue swimming pool. The hotel is run more like a private home than a commercial hotel. The charming owner, Vincenzo Ruggiero (whose father was a fisherman) was born on Capri. He built the villa and named it after his lovely wife Brunella. This is a family operation: Vincenzo and Brunella are now ably assisted by their three handsome sons (Massimo, Salvatore, and Luigi) and charming daughter (Antonella). The whole family seems to take genuine pleasure making guests feel welcome. The 20 bedrooms are tastefully decorated with pretty bedspreads and coordinating curtains. The cool ceramic-tiled floors, creamy-white walls, and potted plants add greatly to the charm. Splurge and ask for one of the deluxe-category rooms located above the swimming pool such as number 60 (54 and 55 are also very special). These offer dramatic views of the sea and islands from their own private terraces. Simply heavenly. The hillside setting is spectacular.
