Karen's Review Of This Property:
Hotels seem more special when the owners are on the premises. This is the atmosphere at the Masseria Torre Coccaro, which is owned by the Muolo family, who has lived in Apulia for generations. Already owners of two large, modern hotels in nearby Monopoli, they bought a beautiful, old, white-washed Masseria (a large olive-producing farm) with a 16th century watchtower and transformed the property into a luxurious hotel. The Muolo’s gracious son, Vittorio, manages the hotel with warmth and efficiency—nothing seems too much trouble for his guests’ comfort. Although there are only 34 rooms, the hotel has a large swimming pool, two restaurants, a cooking school, fitness room, private chapel, wine tasting, 9 holes of golf on-site, conference rooms, a spa with indoor pool that is tucked within an ancient cave, horseback riding, yoga classes, a private beach (a short distance away), and an excursion boat. The hotel is located in a serene farm area that close to the sea. The guestrooms are each uniquely decorated and offer every comfort. Only two rooms are within old caves that were discovered on the property. If you want something really special, ask for the suite that has its own huge private, walled courtyard complete with private swimming pool. However, you don’t need to splurge on a suite, my favorite are the standard rooms.
