Karen's Review Of This Property:

La Peschiera is owned by the Guerra Family, proprietors of Il Melograno, a deluxe hotel built within a 16th-century farmhouse tucked in among ancient olive trees just outside of Monopoli. In order to provide access to the sea, a minivan started shuttling Il Melograno guests to a nearby a beach area where they could relax overlooking the water. Soon a restaurant was opened to provide more services. Then guestrooms were added and, thus, a “sister” hotel evolved called La Peschiera. The name is appropriate, since the property had been used as a fish hatchery since the 18th century. Today, the fresh water pools have been converted into seven swimming pools, ranging from one absolutely enormous pool down to smaller ones, each with a different water temperature. The pools are utilized in a program of massage and beauty treatments using seawater. The guestrooms all have two spacious terraces, one facing the swimming pool and the other facing the sea, which rolls up against the rocks just in front of the terraces. The rooms are attractively decorated and have large bathrooms (the suites have two bathrooms). The hotel owns a small adjacent beach, but this is a rocky area of the coast; so the most appealing place to swim is in the hotels’ seven pools. The restaurant is wrapped on three sides by picture windows, but the favorite place to dine is on a large, wooden terrace that extends to the edge of the water.
