Inch House
( Country House )
A Karen Brown Recommended Hotel / Inn
Owners: Nora & John Egan |

Karen's Review Of This Property:
Only in Ireland can you have a village that does not exist! Inch House is the only building in Inch while the nearest village, Bouladuff, is known and signposted only as "The Ragg" in spite of being marked as Bouladuff on maps—hence we list Inch House under Thurles! Follow the directions and you'll reach this stately Georgian home surrounded by miles of farmland. The house was built in 1720 by the Ryan family. Nora and John Egan originally came here to farm with their eight children who are now grown. Daughter Maureen works closely with her parents and chances are you'll meet one or two of the other children around the place. It's a real treat to stay here for it is quintessentially Irish and incredibly homey in spite of having ballroom-sized drawing and dining rooms resplendent with 15-foot-high ceilings. Michael Galvin is in charge of the kitchen and his set dinner menu (plenty of choices for each course) focuses on local produce. A grand sweep of polished oak stairs lead up to the bedrooms where room 26 is large enough to hold a party, room 24 has a stupendous half-tester bed, and room 27 offers a four-poster. Cashel with its famous rock is a half-hour drive away.
