Karen's Review Of This Property:
The sheer size of Longueville House takes your breath away. Set on a hill overlooking the River Blackwater, this wonderful country house offers you the very best of Irish hospitality. It was built by Richard Longfield, who was spurred on to grander things by a sum of money he received for supporting the British Act of Union. The house is now owned by the O’Callaghan family whose forebears had the estate confiscated from them by Cromwell in 1650. The O’Callaghans take great pains to make sure that you enjoy your stay: Aisling makes certain you are well cared for and made to feel completely at home while William ensures that you are well fed. Longueville is almost completely self-sufficient with vegetables, salmon, lamb, and herbs coming from the estate. The dining room in soft shades of pink is a picture and extends into the Victorian conservatory (1862), while the adjacent library provides a snug place to dine. Each and every bedroom is beautifully decorated and accompanied by a splendid modern bathroom. Reservations can be made for salmon and trout fishing on the nearby Blackwater. There are several 18-hole golf courses within easy reach of Longueville.
