Glin Castle Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

Desmond, the 29th Knight of Glin’s demesne is a 400-acre farm and late-18th-century castle stretching along the banks of the River Shannon. Staying here affords you the opportunity to live luxuriously—the house is an absolute beauty, full of exquisite furniture, family portraits, and beautiful artifacts. It is all very grand but not at all stuffy, for your host is Bob Duff, a gregarious New Zealander who ensures that you are well taken care of and well fed. He will give you a tour of the house with lots of suitably embellished stories. If you are passionate about art, literature, furniture, or books, be sure to ask if the Knight is in residence, for Desmond is happy to meet with guests when he is at home. Sip tea in the grand drawing room or curl up with a good book in the oh-so-comfortable sitting room. Bedrooms range from large and luxurious with extra-large bathrooms and dressing rooms to small and, by comparison, more ordinary. Ballybunion golf course is close at hand and the new Greg Norman-designed links course Doonbeg is an hour away via the Tarbert car ferry.
