Gregans Castle Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

Gregans Castle is only 57 kilometers from Shannon airport, so if you are heading north or west, this is the perfect spot to begin your stay in Ireland. This is not an imposing castle, but a sprawling manor house set in lovely gardens in a lush green valley completely surrounded by The Burren, with its “moonscapes” of gray limestone and scattered alpine and arctic plants. While there are several comfortable lounges to congregate in, my preference is the beamed Corkscrew bar with its blazing turf fire. Lunch is served here, and in the evening guests gather for a drink and a chat. From the dining room, where tables are reserved for all guests for dinner each night, windows frame outstanding views of The Burren sweeping down to the edge of Galway Bay. On a recent visit I really liked Gleninagh—a standard twin room with a particularly nice bathroom, Mina’s room—a superior king-bedded room in the oldest part of the house facing Galway Bay, and the three garden suites with their private patios and brand new bathrooms. Local attractions include the Ailwee Caves, full of stalactites and stalagmites, and the Cliffs of Moher.
