Karen's Review Of This Property:
Grand as life in Georgian Dublin may have been, it is surpassed at The Merrion, a dream of a hotel found in the heart of the city opposite Leinster House, home of Ireland’s parliament. A few steps from bustling city streets and you are in vast drawing rooms enjoying traditional afternoon tea overlooking a tranquil expanse of garden and watching the gardener manicure the box hedges. If you are in the mood for the most sophisticated of meals, adjourn to the two-Michelin-star restaurant Patrick Guilbaud or enjoy more traditional Irish cuisine in The Cellar Restaurant after letting your hair down over a few drinks in The Cellar Bar which lists over 50 wines by the glass on its menu. The Tethra Spa is an aptly named spot to assist guests in recovering from the revelry of the night before—swimming in the pool, working out in the gym, or enjoying a massage. It costs a good deal to stay in one of the elegant suites in the “old building” while more affordable accommodation is found in the deluxe garden wing whose most attractive rooms open up to views of the loveliest of gardens. The hotel has the largest collection of Irish art outside the National Gallery. A traditional hotel in the heart of this vibrant city—what more could you ask from a place to stay?
