Karen's Review Of This Property:
This is the place to stay if you are a garden buff for this lovely Georgian house, built in 1794, is surrounded by 7 acres of glorious gardens. Started in 1947, the gardens extend from walled formality with trim lawns and herbaceous borders to a magical informal woodland garden complete with millpond and literary corner where you can curl up with a good book. It's home to Mark and Emma Hewlett and their three young boys who Emma fervently hopes will be keen gardeners too. It’s a lovely place to base yourself for explorations along the southeast coast. An ideal place to relax and enjoy the spectacular gardens, tennis court, heated indoor pool, exercise room or indulge yourself with a massage and aromatherapy session. Dinner in the peacock dining room is a real treat there’s always fresh fish on the menu and most of the vegetables and fruit comes from the extensive kitchen garden. Breakfast and lunch are enjoyed in the airy conservatory which doubles as the Pink Teacup café for daytime garden visitors. Two interconnecting courtyard bedrooms are especially handy for families and friends traveling together. In the house Magnolia is an particularly inviting room with its large four-poster bed and clawfoot-tub with garden view. The Coach House and the Garden Suite are two lovely, self-catering apartments.
