Karen's Review Of This Property:
Ballinkeele House offers guests peace and tranquillity and the opportunity to enjoy accommodation and hospitality of a gentler age. Built in 1840 for the Maher family, the house has all the solid quality of a grand home with large rooms, fine ceilings and decorative doors. Oriental rugs dress the flagstone entry, which is warmed by a huge, old fashioned stove, and grand oil paintings and family portraits adorn the walls. Antique furniture graces the cosy drawing room and enormous dining room where guests enjoy delicious candlelight dinners. The Master Bedroom is a particularly large room decorated in soft red and beiges with an impressive four-poster bed sitting center stage. Central heating and modern bathrooms add to the comfort of the large bedrooms. For recreation, there are walks through the estate, bicycles available and croquet on the lawn. Settle in for several nights and enjoy County Wexfords new theatre, (home to the Wexford Festival Opera), Irish National Heritage Park, Kennedy Homestead or go for a walk on Curracloe Beach (used for the filming of Saving Private Ryan). Within just over an hour’s drive, are the ancient city of Kilkenny (with its splendid castle) and Waterford city (renowned for the Crystal factory).
