Kilgraney House Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

Bagenalstown is sometimes signposted Muine Bheag, which can lead to a certain amount of confusion in reaching Kilgraney House. But the effort put into finding it is worthwhile, for this is not your run-of-the-mill Irish country house—it’s more like “Architectural Digest” than “Country Life.” With its crisp lines and whimsical touches, the decor is the brainchild of your hosts, designers Bryan Leech and Martin Marley. After working abroad, Bryan and Martin returned to Ireland. Kilgraney House was put together with a touch of whimsy and artistic flair, traditional Irish antiques being added to their overseas treasures. The same attention to detail was lavished on the spotless modern bathrooms. The cooking is modern and imaginative and incorporates seasonal fruits, vegetables and herbs from the enclosed kitchen garden. In another courtyard there’s a medicinal herb garden with nine raised beds in Irish oak timber, each planted with herbs suitable for treating a specific part of the body. In a converted apple house, there’s an aromatherapy centre offering an all-encompassing selection of massages, facials and herbal wraps.
