Karen's Review Of This Property:
Guests at Currarevagh House (pronounced “Curra-reeva”) find themselves entering a world reminiscent of the turn of the last century. Tranquility reigns supreme and things are done the good old-fashioned way at Currarevagh House. However, do not be afraid that you will be deprived of central heating and private bathrooms, for this is not the case. If you book well in advance, you may be able to secure one of our four favorite rooms (1, 2, or 3 in the main house, or room 16 in the “new” wing with its lake views). There are several smaller rooms in the new wing. Try to arrive by 4:30 pm when tea and cakes are served—you will then have enough time for a brisk woodland or lakeshore walk to make room for a delicious dinner at 8. A gong announces dinner and while there are no choices, the helpings are of generous proportions. A tempting breakfast buffet of cold meats, cheeses, and traditional cooked breakfast dishes is spread on the sideboard and the hotel is happy to pack you a picnic lunch for your day’s excursion. It’s all very old-fashioned and un-decorator-perfect, but you will thoroughly enjoy it. Harry can arrange for fishing on the adjacent Lough Corrib. The gardens fringed by rhododendrons and hydrangeas have a croquet lawn and lovely views across Lough Corrib the second largest lake in Ireland.
