Delphi Lodge Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

Delphi Lodge with its surrounding estate was for centuries the sporting estate of the Marquis of Sligo. This wild, unspoilt, and beautiful valley with its towering mountains, tumbling rivers, and crystal-clear loughs was acquired in 1986 by Jane and Peter Mantle. Fortunately for those who have a love of wild, beautiful places, they have restored the Marquis’ fishing lodge and opened their home to guests who come to walk, fish for salmon, relax, and enjoy the camaraderie of the house-party atmosphere. In the evening Peter often presides at the head of the very long dinner table (guests who catch a salmon take the place of honor) where guests enjoy a leisurely meal and lively conversation. A snug library and an attractive drawing room are at hand and guests often spend late-night hours in the billiard room. Bedrooms are all furnished in antique and contemporary pine. On a recent visit we especially admired rooms 3 and 4, two larger rooms with spacious bathrooms and fabulous views of the lake. Such is the popularity of the place that it is advisable to make reservations well in advance to secure a summer booking. Five deluxe, self-catering cottages are also available on the estate.
