Karen's Review Of This Property:
In Northwest Germany, on the North Sea, is a picturesque seaport city called Husum. In the center of town is the recently opened Romantik Hotel Altes Gymnasium which used to be a high school. The grand spaciousness of the lobby and its tile floors was refreshing. This feels like a large hotel although with only 72 rooms, the feeling of privacy was elevated. There was no hustle and bustle of guests even though the hotel was fully booked. A couple rooms on our tour that proved this hotel is pure luxury and comfort. All the modern amenities were found within the traditionally decorated rooms. Understated elegance was the theme throughout and light colors provided instant relaxation. The fitness and wellness area, which includes a huge indoor pool, would impress even the most ardent of spa visitors. An opportunity to enjoy a fine meal is available at their fine dining restaurant, Eucken, which has been honored with one Michelin star. Meals can also be enjoyed in their glass enclosed terrace, the Wintergarten. The Bar Karzer is decorated in the nautical style to reflect Husum’s seafarer tradition. Sailing, boating, golfing, and a national park are all available nearby.
Romantik Hotel Guide's Description:
Enjoy the bracing air of the North Sea and fall in love with our luxury hotel in Husum. Former pupils of this one-time grammar school include the famous German writer Theodor Storm - and the creator of this beautifully appointed hotel, Johann Max Böttcher (class of 1939). Enjoy a sound night's sleep in the romantic former classrooms and experience a host of culinary delights in the Restaurant Eucken (1 Michelin star) or in the winter garden. Relax in the spacious wellness area or linger in the Karzer Bar and succumb to our old-school charm.
