Matthias Ganter, the charming owner of the Romantik Jugendstilhotel Bellevue in Traben-Trarbach, bought a second historic building just up the street. After a total renovation, he brought it back to life as the delightful, moderately-priced Hotel Trabener Hof, which offers exceptional value and excellent quality. The four-story building, situated on a sunny corner across from the old Town Hall, has a mansard roof accented by a jaunty dome-shaped cupola. The reception area is decorated in tones of blue and yellow (a color scheme that runs throughout the hotel) and has a fresh, uncluttered, contemporary appeal. The hotel’s restaurant, Cavallerie, has large windows opening out to the street and displays a smart, modern, ambiance with black, highly-polished tables and chairs, white curtains, potted plants, and attractive pictures on the walls. In contrast to the restaurant, one of the two breakfast rooms is cozy as can be with pastel blue walls, gleaming hardwood floors, and dainty white curtains. The nicely-furnished guestrooms are individually decorated and offer amazing amenities for a simple hotel—even including free internet connections.
