Karen's Review Of This Property:
High above the beautiful Mosel Valley is one of those rare, perfect hideaways—the Historische Schlossmühle, once an old mill. This lovely cream stone building with its handsome teal trim enjoys a peaceful riverside setting. Bedrooms in the old mill (named after country animals) are stocked with thoughtful little extras like sewing kits and hair spray. The four new rooms in the granary are equally as lovely. It is just a short stroll along the river to the recently renovated farmhouse and eight more attractive rooms. Rüdiger and Anne Liller are your charming hosts—Anne is responsible for the creative decor and Rüdiger oversees the cuisine. The restaurant is wonderful and understandably quite popular with locals. Enjoy an aperitif at tables set in the shade in the garden and then dine at tables on different terraced levels of the dining room. A little sitting room honors Napoleon who, so the story goes, sold the mill in 1804 to raise money. The enterprising new owner realized that once Napoleon had left, the original owner would reclaim his property, so to prevent this, he had the mill taken apart and erected 25 kilometers away in this quiet green valley outside Horbruch.
