Karen's Review Of This Property:
In the center of Schwerin’s old town lies this half-timbered building, built in 1819. Originally housing a wine distributor, it has since evolved into several restaurants and a hotel offering five guest rooms. Walking into the building you face several areas: the wine store to the right, the restaurant to the left and all public areas, some with nooks and crannies. The walls, floor and ceiling are all in dark wood. A little searching leads to a tiny reception area where we were greeted quickly. In the restaurant you can find stained glass windows from the late 19th century and painted panels that were discovered and restored, proving that the many levels of this building's history are steeped into the walls. Wine cellars were converted into dining and bar areas, and the large inner courtyard is now a terrace where breakfast is served in the summer months. The guest rooms are found on the third floor and are reached by a variety of stairways. All rooms are newly renovated, decorated with simple contemporary furniture and have all the comforts of a modern hotel. The rooms are quite large, so all offer a good option for families. Looking out the many windows in "Schloss" Room 3 is a real treat and adds to the charm of discovering Schwerin.
