Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Hotel Friedrich Franz Palais was built by Herzog Friedrich Franz von Mecklenburg in 1793 as a holiday retreat where he would come to the Baltic Sea for his health. Thus started the concept in Germany of a spa holiday, a trend that continues to be extremely popular today. The hotel has its own style combining the fresh, clean, uncluttered look of Scandinavian design with lovely, traditional English fabrics. The mood of understated elegance is set as you enter the reception hall where classical music is playing. Soft white predominates throughout, with bouquets of freshly cut flowers and pretty slip-covered chairs in handsome English stripes adding just the right dash of color. There are two main dining rooms: each is traditional in feel, with Biedermeier-style chairs, handsome draperies, pastel colors, and fresh flowers. The guest bedrooms continue the country-manor look with English fabrics in color schemes of soft yellows or pretty greens. The hotel is located in the center of town facing a small park.
