Karen's Review Of This Property:
Rothenburg, a fairy-tale medieval town completely enclosed by ramparts, walls, and turrets, is a popular daytime destination; but don’t come just for the day. Plan to overnight here so that you can enjoy the town’s cobblestone streets and timbered façades after the throngs have departed. The Markusturm, built in 1264 as a tollhouse, commands one of the town’s prime locations on a main street, just a block or two from the main square and Rothenburg’s famous clock. Your gracious hosts, Stephan and Lilo, are the fourth generation of the Berger family to run the Markusturm, which has been a hotel since 1488. The charming Lilo Berger personally decorates all of the rooms, and without exception, they show her talent and loving touch: some are delightfully old-fashioned and furnished with antiques, while others have bleached pine furniture and a fresh, very pretty, pastel decor. Stephan, an excellent chef, is in charge of the restaurant—be sure to try his delicious wine soup and sample his wonderful, home-made beer!
Romantik Hotel's Guidebook Description:

Whether in a Biedermeier room, an Empire suite or an "oasis of dreams" in Laura Ashley style, you will find yourself spoilt for choice. Don't miss the famous wine soup in the panelled restaurant as well as the home-brewed beer.
