Nestled in a charming farm village, this enchanting fifty-two-room hotel exceeds all expectations. Centuries ago, as a country inn, it served as the local meeting spot, providing a venue for weddings and dances; the present generation of the Schmelmerhof family continues the tradition with exceptional hospitality and attention to detail. The core of the original hotel still exists as the Florian Stübe, and every Thursday locals gather there to catch up over a stein. In recent years the hotel has made many modern improvements, including additions and up-to-date bathrooms. The guestrooms are spotless, spacious, and comfortable, with private terraces overlooking the bucolic countryside. On a clear day it’s even possible to see the distant alps. The hotel is understandably proud of their restaurant and state of the art kitchen. With a roaring fireplace and dramatic vaulted ceilings, the dining room’s ambiance is matched only by its menu, which boasts delightful regional specialties. The incredible spa, wellness, and fitness facilities—including indoor pool and sauna—may just tempt you to extend your stay. An added bonus: the Munich airport is just an hour away.
