Karen's Review Of This Property:
One often hears about the town of Iphofen just a few kilometers away, but the walled town of Mainbernheim with its gateway turrets and authentic simplicity is also a pleaser. You won’t find the horse-drawn carriages or many gift shops, but you can walk the cobbled streets and explore the ramparts. Another asset of the town is its charming Gasthof Zum Falken, lovingly managed by mother and daughter, Greta and Christine Jaeger, whose family has owned it for over 120 years. The wide front hallway hung with handsome old farming implements serves as the casual reception area. Each of the restaurant’s dining rooms is cozy with wood paneling, heavy old beams, and country tablecloths. The menu features regional and seasonal specialties. Guestrooms are found up the staircase that winds from the entry. The rooms fresh and comfortable with good mattresses, large pillows, down comforters, television, telephone, and modern bathrooms. Rooms are simple but pretty with well-chosen fabrics for the curtains, and the housekeeping is impeccable. Greta is most welcoming and daughter Christine, who has a sincere warmth in her smile, loves to practice her English. You are assured of a quiet night’s sleep here for a very reasonable price that includes a full breakfast buffet.
