The façade of the Romantik Hotel Lindner is picturesque—a pretty, cream-colored building with a stepped roof and red geraniums accenting windows framed by gray-and-white-striped shutters. You would never guess that it began life as a sturdy fortification! The entrance to the hotel is in the rear where a terrace set with tables and chairs connects the original castle to a new wing overlooking a lovely expanse of lawn and garden, which reflects a similar architectural style. The Hotel Lindner has been in the same family for over 150 years and today is run by Gabi Lindner and her mother, Erna Lindner. It is very obvious that this is a family-owned and -operated hotel: great attention is paid to every detail throughout. The ambiance is one of Bavarian allure leaning more towards sophisticated elegance than quaint rustic charm. There is a fresh, uncluttered look, with modern traditional furnishings accented by country antiques, such as dowry chests and painted armoires. The guestrooms are all very tastefully decorated with the finest-quality furnishings and handsome fabrics. This is a hotel of style and class.

Directions: Bad Aibling is 62 km SE of Munich, 5 minutes off the A8. Turn north off the A8 at exit 100 towards Bad Aibling. Turn towards Munich at the roundabout. At the next roundabout turn towards Bad Aibling. Then follow signs to "Stadtmitte" or city center. Turn left at the light on Marienplatz and you will see the hotel.
