Heidelberg is a romantic, beguiling old university town with a pedestrian street, the Hauptstrasse, the dynamic heart of the action. It is here that you will find the Romantik Hotel Zum Ritter St. Georg occupying one of the best positions in town. In fact, the Zum Ritter’s convenient location is its greatest enticement. The hotel’s stately façade dates from 1592, when the master builder, Carolus Belier, imprinted the gold sign still hanging above the door. Official records show the building served as a fabric trade house for a decade before it became the Hotel Zum Ritter. Because of its impressive façade and central location, the lovely paneled dining room is popular with locals and tourists alike and is known for its regional dishes and game specialties throughout the year. The majority of the hotel's rooms have been renovated. The hotel has been extended to the rear and in the newer wing you find seven spacious, modern bedrooms with fitted furniture and floor-to-ceiling draperies. The remainder of the rooms vary from little single rooms to large bedrooms overlooking the busy main street, with a decor that is both modern than old-world.
