Jocelyne and Jean-Louis Sibuet are masters in the hotel business, owning several premier hotels in the lovely mountain village of Megève—but for sheer drama, none can surpass Les Fermes de Marie. This is definitely no ordinary hotel, but rather a cluster of antique chalets put together to look like a typical Haute-Savoie village. The owner, Jean-Louis Sibuet, spent five years combing the countryside for marvelous old farmhouses, which he brought back and reconstructed in a two-acre park and meadow on the outskirts of Megève. While Jean-Louis was busy searching for buildings, his talented wife, Jocelyne, was scouting the region for antique artifacts and furniture. When the houses were in place, Jocelyne added her magic decorating touch. Every room is filled with antiques and many whimsical accessories such as cute paintings of geese and contented cows. The bedrooms are each individually furnished, but have the same country-cozy charm. There is an abundance of paneled walls, open-beamed ceilings, and pretty fabrics throughout. Although the hotel has a rustic ambiance, its top-notch amenities appeal to the most sophisticated traveler, with excellent bathrooms, a spa, and an indoor swimming pool.
