Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Basilique de Fourvière dominates the wonderful old quarter of Vieux Lyon. Set just in its shadow is the Villa Florentine, whose seemingly perched location affords it an unrivaled setting and dramatic, sweeping vistas of the city. With an exterior wash of soft yellow-cream and salmon, its feeling is reminiscent of Italy. Inside, the Florentine’s decor is very traditional and grand, with a stunning contrast of modern furnishings and appointments against old beams and walls. High ceilings, chandeliers, and a marble floor grace the entry off which is a lovely pool, which seems to extend out to the vista’s edge. One can enjoy an aperitif at tables set on the sweeping expanse of patio. The hotel has a fine dining room on the landing off the reception for winter months, while in the summer guests sit at tables on the verandah and terrace, enjoying gorgeous views. Guestrooms are all attractive with modern furnishings and traditional fabrics—though rooms on the sixth floor have the added charm of wonderful wooden floors under lovely beams. Rooms 4, 7, and 8 have particularly breathtaking views. They have also recently added nine new rooms, suites and a fitness center! The hotel’s multilingual staff is very professional, and if you are traveling by train, they will arrange to have you met at the station.
