Karen's Review Of This Property:

Hôtel d’Europe is a classically beautiful 16th-century mansion, formerly the home of the Marquis of Gravezon. The mansion was converted into a hotel in 1799 as it is within walking distance of the River Rhône, a prime location to attract travelers who in that period voyaged predominantly by boat. The hotel has been completely modernized using handsome furnishings that suit the mood and complement this grand home. The walls of the marble entry hall, once an open courtyard, and the walls of the upper levels are now hung with magnificent tapestries. The bedrooms, all different in character and size, are furnished in traditional pieces and antiques. Many of the rooms are quite spacious and comfortable for extended stays. Although within the city walls of Avignon, many of the rooms overlook the hotel’s courtyard and afford a quiet night’s rest. You can dine in elegant formality in the hotel’s fine restaurant, La Vieille Fontaine, or under the magnificent plane tree in the courtyard on balmy Provençal nights.

Directions: From the A7 take the Avignon Nord exit towards Avignon Centre Ville. Follow the Rhône to the ramparts. On the right, under the bridge of Avignon follow signs to Hotel d’Europe and the entrance of Porte de l’Oulle. Just inside the ramparts, the Place Crillon is on the left.
