Karen's Review Of This Property:

In the middle of the 17th century a Carmelite convent was erected in Arles by Mother Madeleine Saint Joseph. It was a residence for nuns until 1770 when the order was expelled in the midst of the French Revolution. The convent then became state property until it was purchased and transformed into a hotel in 1929. In this beautiful old convent, the Hôtel Jules César has earned a rating of four stars under the directorship of Monsieur Michel Albagnac. The hotel is situated next to and shares a courtyard with the Chapelle de la Charité, which belongs to the hotel and also dates from the 17th century. The restaurant, Lou Marquès, is air conditioned and lovely, known for its classic and Provençal cooking. Little tables and chairs are set in the cloister where breakfast is served in the winter, and on the terrace in summer. All bedrooms are air conditioned and spacious: room 72, with windows opening onto the garden, is an elegant, large room with two double beds. The pool is a welcome addition for those hot summer days in this region and now neighbours a beautiful Provençal garden.

Directions: Arles is located 36 km south of Avignon traveling on the N570. The Jules César is on Boulevard des Lices, a main artery that borders the ramparts on the south.
