Karen's Review Of This Property:
Château de la Caze is a fairy-tale 15th-century castle, majestically situated above the Tarn. With its heavy doors, turrets, and stone façade, it is a dramatic castle, yet intimate in size. It was not built as a fortress, but rather as a honeymoon home for Soubeyrane Alamand. She chose the idyllic and romantic location and commissioned the château in 1492. Now a hotel, its grand rooms with their vaulted ceilings, rough stone walls, and tiled and wood-planked floors are warmed by tapestries, Oriental rugs, dramatic antiques, paintings, copper, soft lighting, and log-burning fires. Each bedroom in the castle is like a king's bedchamber. Room 6, the honeymoon apartment of Soubeyrane, is spectacular with two rooms, two bathrooms and a living room and an entire wall of windows overlooking the Tarn and its canyon. Another room has a painted ceiling depicting the eight very beautiful sisters who later inherited the château. Just opposite the château, La Ferme offers six additional, attractive apartments. The restaurant enjoys spectacular views of the canyon. A very elegant property, the Lecroqs, by their presence (Monsieur in the kitchen, Madame at the reception, and their adorable children in the home) La Caze maintains a familial ambiance. The welcome is genuine, the château is lovely-both as magnificent as the setting.
