Karen's Review Of This Property:

In 1997 two hotels in the medieval fortress of Carcassonne were completely renovated and became one under the name of the Hôtel de la Cité. The hotel offers luxury and refined service and it is also memorable to settle for an evening behind the massive walls of the fortress in this lovely hotel. Recessed into the walls near the Basilica Saint Nazaire, the hotel occupies the site of the ancient Episcopal palace and offers you elegant comfort in a medieval atmosphere. Enjoy a beverage in the cozy and intimate Library Bar. Evening dining is an elegant and memorable experience in the hotel's restaurant, La Barbacane, while the less formal brasserie, Chez Saskia, is a lovely spot for lunch or dinner. The hotel's bedrooms, many of which open up onto the ramparts and a large enclosed garden, vary in price according to size, decor, and view. They are all lovely and suite 108, opening onto the privacy of the gardens, is spectacular with gorgeous carved paneled walls and painted frieze. Ideally located for exploring this magnificent fortress-the hotel can arrange other activities if you want to add to your adventure: barge and bike trips, cooking classes, wine tasting, etc.
