Karen's Review Of This Property:

The Château de Fère is delightful and just an hour from Charles de Gaulle airport. Set in parklike grounds, there are actually two castles. One built in 1206 by Robert de Dreux is now in ruins and serves as a background to the second, the 16th-century Château de Fère. The owner, Richard Bliah, is an architect, and he has remodeled and decorated his hotel with fabric-covered walls, matching draperies and bedspreads. He is diligent about redecorating and constantly improving accommodation. Room 10 at the top of the main staircase is spacious, enjoys views out through two large picture windows and a decadently luxurious bath, and is quite handsome, decorated in colors of gold, steel-blue, olive, and rust. There are two suites termed Balneide (32 is more modern in decor, while 33 is more traditional) that are spectacular with large, pool-size Jacuzzis set in a surround of hand-painted tiles and bedrooms that enjoy separate sitting areas. The restaurants look out to the wooded grounds through tall windows, and display elegant linens, silver, and crystal. Ask for a seat in the pine-paneled restaurant or in the more whimsical restaurant with its animal murals. A magnificent menu and an excellent wine list are offered, with the estate’s champagne being a specialty.
