Karen's Review Of This Property:
Renovated from a wine-merchant’s house, La Tonnellerie is located on a quiet street near the church in the country village of Tavers. Just 3 kilometers from the medieval city of Beaugency and only an hour-and-a-half’s drive from Paris by the autoroute, the Hostellerie de la Tonnellerie is an ideal starting point for visiting the châteaux of the Loire Valley. The bedrooms and suites are invitingly decorated and each has its own immaculate bathroom. Two wings of the building border a central courtyard ablaze with flowers, next to the swimming pool. In warm weather, guests enjoy both breakfast and afternoon tea at tables in the Garden Courtyard. La Tonnellerie features an informal restaurant which serves a good selection of French specialties. The atmosphere of this lovely restored home, which a century ago housed coopers making barrels for wine merchants, is enhanced by antiques, floral arrangements, lovely watercolors, and decorative wallpapers. The decor is warm and inviting and the Pouey family’s welcome very gracious.
