Karen's Review Of This Property:

The Château de Locguénolé, isolated by acres of woodland, presents an imposing picture as it sits high above the River Blavet with lawns sloping down to the water’s edge. This magnificent château has been the family home of the de la Sablière family since 1600 and today Madame de la Sablière and her son Bruno run it as an elegant Relais & Châteaux hotel. Family antiques abound in the four elegant salons. Down the grand curving staircase is the restaurant where Chef Jean-Bernard Pautrat presents a wonderful menu complemented by an excellent wine list. The principal bedrooms are grand, lofty, and high-ceilinged, overlooking a panorama of lawn, forest, and river. It is hard to beat the luxury offered by room 2, a decadent suite, and rooms 4 and 1, large rooms with massive bay windows. The attic rooms with their low beamed ceilings are delightful, but Bruno assured me that Americans prefer the cozy, comfortable rooms in the adjacent manor. With its close proximity to the coast, Château de Locguénolé offers exceptional accommodation and a lovely spot for exploring Brittany’s coastline as well as visiting its historic hinterland.

Directions: Hennebont is 10 km east of Lorient on N165. On the approach to Lorient, take the Port Louis exit (#40) from D781 for 3.5 km and then travel south away from Hennebont to the château.
