Karen's Review Of This Property:

Le Chaufourg is truly a dream—absolute perfection. Georges Dambier has created an exquisite work of art from what was originally a rustic 18th-century farmhouse that has been in his family “forever.” The task of renovation was formidable, but all the ingredients were there: the house, built of beautiful soft-yellow stone, already had charm and its location on a bend of the Isle river is idyllic. Although strategically located in the heart of the Dordogne and conveniently near access roads to all the major sites of interest, once within the gates leading to the romantic front courtyard, one feels insulated from the real world. The exterior of the house is like a fairy-tale cottage with its white-shuttered doors and windows laced with ivy and surrounded by masses of colorful flower gardens. Inside, the magic continues. Each guestroom is entirely different, yet each has the same mood of quiet, country elegance, with natural stucco walls of warm honey-beige, stunning antiques, and tones of soft whites and creams. You find nothing stiff or intimidating—just the elegant harmony of country comfort created by an artist. Georges and his cousin, Agnes, add the final ingredient—the warmth of genuine hospitality. Another plus—romantically staged with intimate settings, candlelight, superb meals are served in his exquisite restaurant.
