Karen's Review Of This Property:

Brantôme, with its Benedictine abbey tucked into the cliffs, narrow streets lined with gray-stone houses, and ancient footbridge spanning the River Dronne beside Le Moulin de l’Abbaye, offers an enchanting setting. The hotel looks across the river to the town from its picturesque riverside location. Dinner is a real treat—we found it no more expensive than at far inferior places and its wine list had many well-priced wines. Dinner, whether served outdoors on the terrace or in the elegant dining room, profits from the idyllic riverside setting. The lovely bedrooms are found in two buildings: the mill and an adjacent home. Guestrooms are beautifully decorated with handsome fabrics and traditional furnishings. We particularly liked our bedroom atop a broad flight of spiral stairs. It enjoys delightful decor, views across the rooftops through tiny windows, and a luxurious bathroom with an enormous circular tub. The public areas found in the original mill enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the riverside setting and the soothing sound of the rushing water. Relax in to one of the intimate salons; linger over dinner and enjoy the gorgeous view as well as excellence of the cuisine, or in pretty weather, settle on the outdoor terrace at a table on the water's edge.
