Karen's Review Of This Property:
Convenient to the airport and with a professional, charming, English-speaking staff, the Château de l’Ile offers all modern comforts within a restored Alsatian château sitting in its own pretty park. Guestrooms, restaurants, and conference rooms are all ingeniously installed behind a façade that replicates an Alsatian village—peaked roofs and pastel-wash stucco set with timbered beams complement the intricate structure of the original castle. As with all Grandes Étapes hotels, guestrooms are categorized as “tradition”, “superior”, “deluxe” or “suite”. The tradition rooms are lovely, found in the new wing along a long marble-floored corridor with Oriental runners. I found these to be very attractive and an exceptional value. Rooms classified as superior are located a floor above off a carpeted hallway and are a little larger in terms of room and bath. The deluxe and suite rooms are all located in the château, and each has its own character, style, and special ambiance—they are all luxurious and extremely attractive. A dramatic apartment, referred to as “The American Suite”, has a grand entry, sauna, living room, dining room, office, large bedroom, and an enormous bathroom. Dining is exceptional here, both in the Bavarian-style stube and the cozy, elegant, intimate dining room.
