Karen's Review Of This Property:
Set on a corner just below the hospital at the edge of town, this charming inn is easy to spot with its lower portion colored in a wash of soft yellow and the top a mix of sienna and rough timber. An arched doorway beckons you into the reception of this centuries-old home whose exposed walls of stone are dramatically softened by handsome fabrics hanging at the windows. The salon, a cozy place to settle with chairs set round the open fireplace, was once the forge and a pot hangs above the old well. The breakfast room—once the old cellar—has tables set with cheerful linens. A wide rope tethered to the wall eases the climb up the circular stair to the bedrooms and rough-hewn doors set in hallways of old plaster and timbered beams guard the guestrooms. Anselme II is a lovely, spacious room on the first floor whose twin beds are decked in rich fabrics of rusts, golds, and yellows, and harvest patterns of corn and wheat. Another flight up, Ulrich V is a delightful corner room with red-check print at the numerous windows and a handsome print of beiges and greens on the bed and in the fabric canopy over the bed. Beams, wainscoting, and lots of sunlight make this a true favorite. Located on the Route du Vin, Ribeauvillé is a charming town and ideally located in the region.
