Recently converted from a private home, Hôtel À La Ferme is a dream. The charming hand-painted farm scene depicted together with the hotel name on the entry gate will draw you into the heart of this enchanting complex of blue timbered buildings, old weathered tobacco barns, and newer additions nestled on a lush lawn and gorgeous gardens. Three generations of the Hellmann family have welcomed dinner guests to their auberge, À l’Aigle D’Or, located just down the lane in the heart of this quiet Alsatian village. Following in the family’s hospitable footsteps, now Jean Philippe, a third generation Hellmann, along with his wife, Brigitte, offer wonderful accommodations at Hôtel À La Ferme. Three guestrooms are found above the attractive sitting room and breakfast room of the main farmhouse (one standard, one suite, and one single) and four suites are located in the newly built addition. I fell in love with the single which is very comfortable with a double bed set on pine floors and upstairs corner windows draped in local woven Alsatian fabric framing the lush grounds. In the same high standard set by their restaurant, breakfast is a buffet feast with assorted meats, seafood, cheeses, homemade pastries, and an array of fruits from the bounty of the garden.
