Karen's Review Of This Property:
Andersen House is at once homey, yet sophisticated; historic, yet thoroughly modern. This 1891 Victorian has been beautifully restored by Max Andersen and given a completely contemporary feel—open and light, and very welcoming. Janet Andersen is responsible for much of the artwork throughout the downstairs, which suit the large wall spaces very well and give the rooms a polished touch. Our favorite of the downstairs rooms is the casual, spacious dining room, with large windows and French doors that invite in the morning sun. Guestrooms are handsomely decorated in subtly stylish ways that complement the 19th-century architecture. The Garden Studio, just below ground level, is perhaps the most romantic in soft shades of pale green and white. It has low ceilings, but a lot of light through gorgeous, stained-glass windows overlooking the back garden. It has a private entrance, double Jacuzzi tub, hardwood floors, and pedestal sink right in the bedroom; plus the tiniest water closet you’ve ever seen. Also enjoying a private entrance the two upstairs are two very large, comfortable rooms. Casablanca has a sun deck, a Jacuzzi tub, a sitting area, and original, wood-paneled walls painted in a lovely pale yellow. The largest room, The Captain’s Apartment includes a mini-kitchen, a king bed, plus two twins tucked in an alcove, and a huge bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub and shower.
