The Romantik Hotel Böglerhof is a refined, sophisticated resort, beautifully situated in the most picture-perfect Alpine village tucked high in the Alpbach Valley, which still maintains the warmth and charm of a small, family-run hotel. It has been in the same family for three generations—Johannes Duftner’s grandfather acquired the 15th-century farmhouse (which at the time was in sad disrepair) in 1933. Although it has been modernized and greatly expanded over the years, Michaela & Johannes Duftner have maintained the authentic ambiance of a Tyrolean home, with wooden balconies draped in the summer with exuberant displays of pink and red geraniums. The mood is set as you enter the spacious lobby filled with antiques and large bouquets of freshly cut flowers. Enjoy dinner in one of the cozy pine dining rooms but be sure to peek into the hotel’s original dining room, a snug stüble with paneled walls and ceiling gleaming with the patina of age. The guestrooms with their blond-pine furniture have a more contemporary Tyrolean decor and vary from standard double rooms to two-bedroom suites perfect for families. Swim in the indoor or heated outdoor pool, taste Austrian wines in the cellars, and enjoy a barbecue on the shaded terrace or an après-ski schnapps by the fire.
