Karen's Review Of This Property:
From the moment you see the welcoming sign with the gold deer hanging over the front door and enter into the cozy reception hall of the Hotel Goldener Hirsch, you will be enchanted. Everyone from the doorman in his green apron to the maid in her crisp uniform greets you warmly and wishes you a pleasant day. Just beyond the front desk there is a central patio with a glass ceiling where the friendly bartender is ready to fix you a refreshing drink. For more substantial fare, there is a traditional restaurant in the hotel plus, just a few steps down the street, a less formal restaurant, the Herzl, also owned by the hotel. This second restaurant has a cozy ambiance, with dark, rustic wood walls and heavy-beamed ceilings. It seems the hotel grew like an adolescent—in spurts. Guest rooms, tucked off and up a jumble of corridors and stairs; in various little nooks and corners, are charming in their decor and luxurious in their appointments. Rich, country fabrics are a beautiful compliment to the abundant antiques used throughout in the decor. Many of the original furnishings that came from the family farm to decorate the hotel at a time when they were considered “worthless country family antiques” still remain and create a cozy ambiance. Refined service, a warmth of welcome and absolutely beautiful accommodation make the Goldener Hirsch one of Salzburg’s choice hotels.
