Claridge Hotel Zurich

The Claridge Hotel Zurich is a real charmer, an appealing country inn away from the bustle of the city, yet within easy walking distance of the heart of Zürich. Lacy trees frame the yellow façade whose small-paned windows are enhanced by off-white shutters. A gay yellow-and-white striped awning forms a cozy canopy over the front entry. From the moment you enter, you are surrounded by a homey ambiance—nothing commercial, just comfortable chairs, antique chests, Oriental rugs, lovely paintings, and sunlight streaming in through the many windows. The bedrooms are a special surprise. Each seems so large as to almost be a suite, with plenty of space to relax and read or write letters. All the rooms even have a computer work station with office software, highspeed internet access, internet TV and radio, air conditioning. The cozy Orson’s Restaurant, Lounge & Bar was designed by famous architect lady Pia Schmid. It serves Mediterranean specialties. The ACE restaurant specializes in local Swiss fare. In warm weather, meals are served in a delightful little garden tucked to the side of the hotel. In the summer snacks, cocktails and teas are served on the terrace: to see and to be seen.
