Sunstar Hotel Beau-Site

Nestled in a high mountain valley beneath a glacier and towering mountain peaks, Saas Fee is a traditional mountain village that has become a lively holiday resort. At the heart of the action you find one of its first hotels, the Sunstar Hotel Beau-Site, a solid stone building constructed in 1893. The Zurbriggen family bought the hotel in 1944 and Urs is the third generation of his family to manage it. In more recent years the hotel has undergone a complete renovation that shows off the old stone walls and woodwork. This is particularly noticeable in the high-ceilinged public rooms—the sitting room with its exposed stone walls and heavy pine beams and the dining room all decked out with dark wood and furnished with intricately carved, old-world Swiss chairs. The hotel is a complete resort, with children’s playroom, large swimming pool, and spa facilities. Bedrooms come in all shapes and sizes from simpler twin-bedded rooms to a grand suite with intricately carved furniture. Room 26 is an especially attractive suite and room 1893, the year of the hotel’s origins, is termed the Honeymoon Room. The hotel’s broad terrace is a popular gathering spot serving traditional Swiss fare.
